Chicago

Matt and I took the train from South Bend to Chicago while we were in Indiana. Two years ago we took the same train ride to Chicago to see Navy Pier and go on the architectural boat ride, but only for the day.  This year, we decided to stay overnight and had the best time!

We got off the train at Millenium Station and walked to our hotel.  We checked in, dropped off our bags, and headed towards Michigan Ave!

The buildings were amazing and we both commented how awesome it was to be walking around such a big city.  The buildings were taller than we remembered and the architectural details were beautiful!  We went inside a few stores that we do not have at home or had not been in before, but even the stores we are used to visiting were huge compared to what we see in SW FL.

While we were on Michigan Ave we went to The Hancock Building.  The elevator took us to the 94th floor in less than a minute.  We walked around the observation deck and the views were unbelievable.

We even paid a little extra to "tilt" outward 1,030 feet above the Magnificent Mile.  It was insane!

Here is the view of the Hancock Building from the ground!

After TILT, we went up to the 96th floor to the Signature Room for a delicious lunch/drinks.

We walked back to the hotel to rest and then change before heading down to the hotel bar.  Here is the view from our room - we loved looking at all of the rooftop pools!

We walked to dinner at Lou Malnati's and ordered "The Lou" for dinner.  Last year we had Giordano's and loved it, but we especially liked the garlic buttercrust on the pizza at Lou Malnati's.

We had a reservation for a carriage ride back on Michigan Ave. so after dinner we hit the street again.  We walked over 19,000 steps and were feeling it the next day!

I have always wanted to do a carriage ride with Matt and was so happy the weather cooperated.

We went past some amazing stores, along the Lake shore, and saw Navy Pier in the distance.

The next morning we walked to Millenium Park.  We saw the Millenium Monument at Wrigley Square, the Cloud Gate (The Bean), and the Crown Fountain.

This huge pavilion hosts free outdoor classical concerts.  There was a group warming up while we were there and I'm sure it is an awesome time on summer nights!

After Millenium Park we went to a cafe and sat outside and enjoyed a Nutella and Banana Crepe.  It was life-changing and I have thought about it almost every day since :)

Our last stop before heading back to the train station was the Chicago Cultural Center, which is located in the old Chicago Public Library.  This building is known for it's two stained-glass domes. Once again, we kept commenting on how grand every building/room was.

We also walked around and viewed the free art exhibits in the Cultural Center before heading to our train.  Such a fun morning!

There is so much to do in Chicago and we will definitely be back to keep exploring!
